Why 'Zoom' for online Hazel Lily Yoga Classes?
Zoom is one of the more robust hosting platforms, and generally less likely to drop out compared to the likes of Facebook or Instagram live for example.
Zoom offers a Pro plan which I’ve chosen to invest in, to give you peace of mind that we won’t be kicked out of the session after the free 40 minute allowance (I’ve experienced this as a participant and it does break the flow of the class somewhat!) This means you can fully relax and immerse yourself into your practice :)
Community! Unlike fb & insta live we can all connect with 2 way video - Seeing each other's faces, hearing each other's voices, and have actual conversations (almost) like real life! While Zoom isn’t an exact replica of in-person classes, in my opinion, it’s a pretty close second - Current students also agree - Take a look at the testimonials below ...
As the class begins (at 6pm/7pm) after our free 15 minute catch up I, as the host, ‘spotlight’ myself - so for the class duration you only see me on your screen, meaning you can fully go inwards into your practice - in to you, your body, your mind, without the visual distraction of the screen flicking back & forth between other participants.
Spotlighting also means that, although you can only see me for guidance, I can see everyone on my screen, interacting, checking-in and making sure everyone is happy with the pace, sequences and asanas throughout, adjusting my teaching style accordingly if needed.

What Hazel Lily Yoga online classes are not:
'Workout yoga' purely for superficial gain. Hazel Lily Yoga classes adopt a holistic approach to yoga, with a strong focus on nourishing the mind & soul, in addition to the body using ancient authentic yoga practices. That’s not to say that you won’t or can't build muscle, strength, flexibility, mobility and vitality with regular yoga practice - you most likely will! - It’s just not the sole focus of our hatha yoga classes. If it's yoga for contortionists / gymnasts / super bendy Wendy's you're after, then this may not be the most suitable class for you ;)
A competition - Yoga (literally meaning ‘union’) in the truest sense is about focusing on you, your body, your mind, your emotions - Bringing about a sense of optimal health & wellbeing in balancing and unifying. Not one of us is the same to another, so we should do our best not to focus or compare ourselves to how or what others are doing …
“Do your best and leave the rest” as my great yoga teachers say!

Taught solely in sanskrit. Although Hazel Lily Yoga classes are based on traditional yoga practices using authentic ‘root yoga’ terms, names & sequences (notably using the most original names. Modern yoga often use posture names which have been changed/altered over the years - not to say one is correct and the other not, they're just a little different) our space is an accessible, inclusive one where everyone should feel welcome. Authentic sanskrit terms are often used for the asanas, kriyas & practices but a translation and explanation is also provided ...
I can’t guarantee that a few ‘not so traditional’ Hazel Lily-isms won’t be thrown in for good measure too ;)
An expensive investment. In it's most traditional sense hatha yoga focuses on you - going inward into your body, your mind, your soul. There is no need for expensive props, fancy yoga workout gear or equipment. All that's recommended is a yoga mat, or towel if you don't have one, and perhaps a blanket for relaxation to help you feel even more cosy, comfy, and rested at the end of our practice :)

What people are saying about online Zoom yoga classes with Hazel Lily Yoga ...
“I think what you're doing is wonderful and I absolutely love taking part in the classes from the comfort of my home during these strange times. It's helping in more ways than you can imagine and it's great to connect with other class members too, rather than follow a stranger on YouTube.”
- Joanne Simpson
......
“I wanted to thank you for carrying on with Monday night yoga practice online.
I am usually quite a calm person, but trying to do home learning with the boys yesterday was a nightmare for me, and I am a primary school teacher! I can't imagine what other parents are going through at this time.
Having the yoga class to look forward to was helping me, afterwards I slept better last night than I have done for a while, and today is very good day. I don't think it's all a coincidence, do you?!
Diolch o galon Hazel, please keep doing what you're doing, it really does help.”
- DJ
......
“What can I say about these yoga sessions? Hazel’s teaching is spot on, professional and light-hearted! ... The classes have recently moved from a venue to our own homes via Zoom due to COVID-19 and although it didn’t initially appeal to me, it’s just as good and having a small community to gather with, has been awesome. Hazel’s warm welcoming manner knits everyone together into a secure, happy environment to practice yoga. Thank you!”
- Mark Stillman

“Highly recommend Hazel's classes! Perfect for anyone who needs some extra self care during these tough times 💜 "
